Perfect Weather! GPS issues ~ and a surprise at home!

I could NOT pass up a chance to run outside yesterday! It was absolutely GORGEOUS! It was 65 degrees outside by the time I started my run! WOW, I mean, it's January and I am running in a tank and shorts!!! I took a vacation hour from work to head to one of my favorite spots to run - South Park! See the pic: oh GPS, how you failed me!

Here is a quote from the Quincy Park District website: Walking Distance: 1.1 MI A full trip around the big loop equals 1.1 miles. The sign at the park states that the big loop is 1.12 miles around. I know I went around 4 times. I know I hit 4.4 miles -AT LEAST, and 4.48 by the map at the park. iMapMyRun and my phone's GPS failed to accurately track me. Look at the PIC!!! It had me running through the grass and taking major shortcuts. I stuck to the road. I was planning on stopping at some point on the loop that marked 4 miles. that is what was on the chart for the day. I had a feeling something was wrong when it (the app) told me I was running at 11 minutes per mile when I knew for sure I couldn't be going slower than 9. I can generally "feel" a good pace now. As it turns out I went 4.48 miles in 39:31 for an average pace of 8:50. EXACTLY how I felt! I am still trying to find a good way to track an live run. For now, I will stick to mapping it out so I know the distance prior to starting and will just plug the time in later. It was a great run though! I still felt I had something left in the tank when I got done, but knew that I had to quit because it was time to pick my youngest up from daycare. I think I can run forever at about 8:45 per mile.

I felt great as I got home and what to my surprise, do I find in the mailbox???
A package from RoadID.com! YES!!! My RoadID arrived! I am so happy to have it! I will have it on when I go for my windy lunch run today. I plan to get an easy 3 miles in. It will be fairly slow, I imagine, because the wind is blowing about 20mph. Good thing I will have ID!

I was hoping it would be in before the first group run. I do love things that help me stay safe, as I am sure i have mentioned before.

~Happy Running!
